ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS:

Maranatha International Orphanage Center is a non-profit Christian Organization that concentrates on orphans and less privileged children in Africa regardless of race, religion, age or ethnic background. Maranatha International Orphanage Center (MAIOC) was conceptualized when the President of the organization realized her dreams of being able to support children who are socially alienated as a result of losing their parents to AIDS, malaria or other diseases. Most of these children are expelled from their households because other family members deem them unclean and contagious. This was a common practice in the communities where she lived and worked in her home country of Ghana, West Africa. Many members of the external families are usually not financially capable of taking care of these children. For socially displaced infants with no moral support, life becomes too challenging at such an early stage. Currently, there are over 10,000 orphans and or homeless children and youth in Ghana alone.

This is the reason why the President who has dealt with these situations is now lending a hand to the many children back in her home country whose fate can be changed through organizations such as MAIOC. Now living in the United States of America, Mrs. Agyemang-Amoako is using MAIOC as a way to help children in such predicament.

MAIOC is working towards the construction of a fully functional multi-purpose facility that will educate, feed, and provide clothing and medication for the orphans and poorest children around Afienya – Tema – Ghana.  A daycare center is to be attached to this facility to help toddlers in their early developmental stages of life.

Currently maioc is supporting about fifty (50) children through its educational support program (tuition payment other educational supply), a place has been rented and renovated to start a daycare by October 2011 for these precious children. A 40- foot container with children’s toys, bicycles, tricycles, school tables and chairs, play stations and about twenty computers were shipped in August of 2010 to support the school project. Counseling services is available to children who have been abused physically, emotionally and mentally as a result of their parents’ deaths.

Teachers will be employed to educate the children from kindergarten through high school. It is the organization’s goal to start a rural community Nursing School in Afienya-Tema area where the young boys and girls will have to opportunity to study for a Nursing career. The whole operation will be funded through donations, grants and other forms of financial aid provided by the general public and organizations. MAIOC wants to encourage and solicit funds from financial organizations, domestic and international donors, philanthropic individuals and potential supporters. This website has been capacitated to process financial donation transactions. Any donations such as monetary school supply or playground equipments, medical equipments, clothes will be greatly appreciated. We will gladly accept a onetime donation or monthly contributions; Our goal is to start the daycare and rural community nursing school in 2011.

The organization will need vehicles due to the fact that the school-orphanage is located further from the capital city of Accra, Ghana, West Africa as most of our supplies will have to be purchased there and transported outside of Accra.Â
